Pump-jet propelled underwater glider is a kind of hybrid driven underwater glider developed on the basis of traditional buoyancy driven underwater glider with pump-jet propulsion. In order to improve its maneuverability,the pump-jet propelled underwater glider adopts the tail-rudder structure design. In this paper, numerical simulation method is adopted to study the rudder airfoil,aspect ratio,sweep angle,rudder shaft position and other related parameters of the rudder,and the hydrodynamic structure design of the rudder is completed. Using dynamics simulation method,the turning performance of pump-jet propulsion underwater glider and roll underwater glider at the same scale are compared and analyzed. The simulation results show that the turning performance of tail-rudder structure is obviously better than that of roll underwater glider.
