The extension of international Argo program from “core Argo” to “global Argo” and successful development of the Chinese Beidou profile float provide an opportunity for constructing Argo Regional Ocean Observation Network in the South China Sea, an important marginal sea of the northwest Pacific. This paper introduces a general design of Argo Regional Ocean Observation Network in the South China Sea, and initially establishes the “ South China Sea Argo Regional Ocean Observation Network” dominated by our country through the first batch of Beidou profile floats deployment in the South China Sea by related voyage investigations. Moreover, the analysis results of shipborne CTD and laboratory salinometer and historical data of surrounding seas obtained by voyage investigations verifies reliability of domestic Beidou profile float observation data.
