Abstract:Transient sound signals are generated when a heavy objects falls into water and hits the bottom, which can be used to locate the underwater target in shallow water. In this paper, a fast passive positioning algorithm for transient acoustic sources based on small three-dimensional five-element array is proposed to solve the problem of target localization in shallow water. On the basis of analyzing water-entry signal characteristics of the heavy objects, the generalized cross-correlation weighted function is select- ed to obtain sound path difference between each-two microphone, then the acoustic source position is obtained using the fast least squares search algorithm. The results show that the localization accuracy and robustness of the algorithm can be taken into account at the same time by using the 5 microphones array, simultaneously, this algorithm meets the requirement of real-time performance. This algorithm can be applied in the field of transient sound sources localization in shallow water.
